Aubrey E. "Gene" Sonderman

Aubrey Eugene "Gene" Sonderman, 78, of North Pekin, IL passed away at 8:08 AM Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL. Gene was born on February 24, 1945 in Ripley, TN to Allen Eugene and Jennie Audrey (Crook) Sonderman. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ray Sonderman and one sister, Brenda Dozier. Surviving are: one son, David Eugene (Kelly) Sonderman of Oakfield, ME; one daughter, Martha (Rick) Wolfe of Athens, OH; nine sisters and brothers, Rebecca Appleyard of North Pekin, Mike (Mary) Sonderman of Pekin, Ron (June) Sonderman of North Pekin, Stan Sonderman of Halls, TN, Tim Sonderman of Halls, TN, Ola (William) Walker of Ripley, TN, Joyce Baugh of South Pekin, Loretta (Carl) Richmond of Ripley, TN and David (Sally) Sonderman of North Pekin; four grandchildren, Quentin and Ian Sonderman of Oakfield, ME and Dani and Hunter Wolfe of Athens, OH. Gene was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam War. He retired from Pekin Energy in 2005 after working many years. He was a member of The Pentecostals of Pekin. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, May 5, 2023 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin with Pastor Jeffrey Lashley officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM 7:00 PM Thursday, May 4th and from 10:00 AM 11:00 AM Friday also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Association.
