Armand R. Yergler 92, of Pekin passed away at 6:38 am Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Pekin Estates. Armand was born July 29, 1916 in Gridley, IL to Harry J. and Emma S. (Lutticken) Yergler.He married Elnor Johnson on October 6, 1938 in Pekin.She survives. Preceding him in death were his parents, one son and two brothers. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Melody (Don) Bearden of Silverton, OR, Lanae (Jack) Hall of Blacksburg, VA; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren;two brothers, John Yergler of Kellog, ID, Glen 'Shorty' (Lillian) Yergler of Gridley; two sisters, Eileen Roberts of Bloomington and Gerry (Jack) Sievers of Gridley; Armand was a machinist at Powerton retiring in 1976 after 35 years of service. He was a life long hunter and fisherman.Armand was a Charter member of the Gridley Sportsman's Club. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII. Armand was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ where he was a member of the Churchmen's Brotherhood, Friday Morning Bible Study Class, past Superintendant of Sunday School, former business manager of church and former member of church council. He was past president of Local 1361 IBEW where he had been a member for 50 years.He was a former cub master for Pack 72.Armand received Scouters key in 1963 from Tomahawk Districts.Also a life and 60 year member of Empire Lodge #126 AF & AM and Powerton Playboys.
