Arlan Dean Willock

Arlan Dean Willock, 79, of Pekin passed away at 6:10 am Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at his home. Dean was born May 17, 1930 in Mason City, IL to Ray Alfred and Jennie (Taylor) Willock. He married Mary Jane Copper on August 19, 1951 in Yosemite National Park, Merced, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild, Timothy Ross Warning. Surviving are: his wife, Mary Jane of Pekin; two daughters, Gail Anne (James) Warning and Carol Sue (John Jr.) Spangler both of Pekin; four grandsons, J.C. (Stephanie) Spangler, Matthew Ray (fiance, Kristin Stroh) Spangler, Joseph Thomas Warning and Kevin Dean Spangler; one sister, Dorothy Lee Bastien of Peoria, IL; three nieces, Debi (Stan) Parker, Kathy (Mark) Kostelny and Cindy Flannery. He also leaves behind many dear friends in Sun City, AZ, especially the Fairway Woodworkers group of Sun City. His family was the love of his life. Dean served in the United States Navy from 1948 - 1949 having served on the USS Siboney.He was also a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the United States Air Force from 1951 - 1954. He attained the rank of Airman Third Class of the 348th Strat Recon Squadron. Dean was an Honor Graduate from the University of Illinois with Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1959. A Masters of Accounting in 1964, an Alfred P. Sloan Scholar, 1958-1959. Phi Kappa Phi, University Honors, Beta Alpha Psi, Accounting Honors and the University of Illinois Scholarship Key. Dean started his CPA practice, Willock and Warning & Co. in 1972. Dean was a former member and past president of the Pekin Rotary Club. He was named a Paul Harris Fellow in 1983 by the Pekin Rotary Club. He served on the Board of Directors of the Pekin Mobile Diner 1980 - 1986, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Past President 1977 - 1979, YWCA Financial Advisory Panel 1980-1986, Member of the Chamber of Commerce 4th of July Fireworks Crew for many years and hosted the 4th of July Kickoff Breakfast for the fireworks crew. He was Pekin Marigold Festival Rotary Pork Chop Chairman for many years. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
