Anita Hiser

Anita Hiser, 87, of Pekin passed away at 11:52 am Monday, September 05, 2016 at Pekin Manor. She was born May 22, 1929 in Meridian, TX to Bernice and Anna Glayde (Alexander) Norris.She married Joe Hiser October 25, 1949 in Glasgow, KY.He died June 15, 1982. Anita is survived by one son, Jeffrey (Jayna Judd) Hiser of Austin, TX; twin grandchildren, Misty Hiser of Burlington, IA and Dustin Hiser of Champaign, IL; mother of her twin grandchildren, Jody Hiser of Pekin; and one step grandson, Spencer Smith of Santa Cruz, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; and sister, Nancy Gayle Norris. Anita started her career as a teacher at Rogers School in North Pekin for 6 years, she then taught for Pekin District 108 retiring in 1996 after 32 years of service.She continued to be a substitute teacher 15 years after her retirement. She was an active member of the Tazewell County Retired Teachers and former member of the Kings Daughters. Anita was a member of First Baptist Church in Pekin where she had been a Sunday school teacher for many years. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday, September 8, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Pekin with Pastor Brad Martin officiating.Visitation will be 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Wednesday, September 7 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin with additional visitation 1:00 pm -1:30 pm Thursday prior to service at her church.Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
