Alta Y. Rule

Alta Y. Rule, 85, of Pekin, IL passed away at 5:40 AM Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at her home. Alta was born on July 26, 1931 in Jellico, TN to Merton Oscar and Johnnie Mae (Artis) Thomas. She married Robert Rule Sr. in 1954 in Tennessee. He passed away in 1993. Also preceding in death are her parents, one son, Boris Kirk Rule, and three brothers. Surviving are: one son, Robert (Sherry) Rule Jr. of Pekin; one daughter, Rebecca S. (Roy) Skibbe of McHenry, IL; four grandchildren, Shawnna Rule, Jason Rule, Elizabeth Scudder and Suzy Scudder; one great grandchild, Rylee Brannigan; one brother, Richard (Lorene) Thomas of Jellico, TN; three sisters, Peggy Hatfield and Carolyn Tindle both of Chicago and Mimi (Wayne) Logsdon of Portland, OR; and her faithful companion, Jolie. Alta was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and received her nursing degree from Methodist School of Nursing in Peoria. She was a nurse in Labor and Delivery at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria for forty-one years retiring in 1996. Alta was a devoted Christian and longtime member of the North Parkway Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading and watching the Chicago Bulls. She was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan.Her beautiful smile, caring soul, and love for life, family, and friends will always be remembered and greatly missed. A service celebrating Alta's life will be held at 11:30 am, Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the North Parkway Assembly of God Church, 1209 N. Parkway Drive, Pekin. Cremation will be accorded. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to TAPS No-Kill Animal Shelter.
