Alice Cleer

Alice Mae Cleer, 91, of Pekin, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, at 6:10 p.m. at Timbercreek Rehab & Health Care in Pekin. She was born on November 17, 1933, in Stark County, Illinois, to Clark and Creola (Torbet) Streitmatter. Alice married Tom D. Lambert in 1958; he preceded her in death in 1979. She later married Wayne Cleer in 1981, who preceded her in death in 2010. Alice was also preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Margie Welte; her stepson, Larry Cleer; her brother, Merle Streitmatter; and two sisters, Marcella Surritte and Mildred Campbell.

Alice is survived by her son, Dennis Lambert of Peoria Heights; her daughter, Brenda (John) Bailey of Newport News, Virginia; one stepson, Gary (Selena) Cleer of Pekin; one stepdaughter, Diane (Richard) Middleton of Crofton, Maryland; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lucy Meaker of Texas and Kay Weaver of Arkansas.

Alice and her late husband Wayne were Hall of Fame breeders of Champagne d’Argent rabbits, dedicating many years to traveling across the country to show their rabbits. They cherished their travels together, including numerous cruises and trips unrelated to their rabbit shows. At home, Alice loved hosting family gatherings, filling their home with warmth and love through close relationships with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Their home was also a hub for lively Chicago Bulls viewing parties, bringing together family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory in Pekin, followed by a graveside service at 2:15 p.m. at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
