Adam J. Martin

Adam Jacob Martin, 37, of Pekin, IL passed away at 1:32 AM Sunday, September 20, 2026 at Carle Health – Methodist Hospital in Peoria surrounded by his family.

Adam was born on February 20, 1989 in Winfield, IL to Steve and Julie (Clark) Martin.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

He is survived by, his father, Steve (Stacy) Martin of Pekin; one sister, Heidi (Chris) Bagwell; two nieces, Ava and Brooks Bagwell; Aunt Amy (Tony) Bell, Aunt Vicky Martin, Uncle Alan Clark as well as many other aunts, uncles and cousins.

Adam had a heart of gold and a warm, welcoming spirit that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He greeted friends, family, and even strangers with a genuine smile and a heartfelt hug. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Adam had a lifelong love of music and was a talented musician who played both the mandolin and piano. His mandolin playing was always a welcome addition to our patio music gatherings, where he brought joy and warmth through his love of music. He also had the special opportunity to perform live with his father on numerous occasions, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever. Adam loved all genres of music and found happiness in both playing and sharing it with others.

Adam was a recent member of Carpenters Local 237. He was a graduate of PCHS and earned an Associate degree from ICC.

More than anything, Adam will be remembered for the kind, thoughtful, and caring person he was. He had a gentle heart and a genuine concern for others. His kindness extended to animals as well. Adam never met a dog or cat he didn't love. Whenever he saw an animal in distress, his instinct was to help, and he would do whatever he could to rescue and care for them. His compassion was a beautiful reflection of the person he was.

Adam leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, music, and treasured memories. He will forever be remembered as a loving son, a devoted friend, and a truly caring soul who brought light and warmth into the lives of so many.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, with David Taylor officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to TAPS Animal Shelter in honor of Adam. He had a special love for animals and never met a dog or cat he didn’t love. If he saw an animal in need, he would always try to help and rescue it. A donation to TAPS would be a meaningful way to honor Adam and his loving heart.
