Joel Richard Hapke, 53, of Pekin passed away at 2:18 pm Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. Joel was born June 19, 1956 in Peoria, IL to Richard L. and Elaine (Waterstreet) Hapke. He is preceded in death by this father. Surviving is: his mother, Elaine of Pekin; one brother, Mark (Paula) Hapke of Bloomington; six nieces and nephews, Jennifer Erickson, Valerie, Gregory, Joseph, Timothy and Lia Hapke all of Bloomington, IL. Joel graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1978 with a Bachelors degree in Business. He was an accountant for the United Private Industry Council for 30 years last working on Monday, December 14. Joel was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin where he served as an usher and past treasurer. He was a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity, Tazewell Toastmasters and was the 1997 Toastmaster of the Year. Funeral InformationFuneral services will be at 11:00 am Monday, December 21, 2009 at St. Johns Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mark Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm Sunday, December 20 at Henderson Funeral Home in Pekin and from 10:00 am – 10:45 am Monday at the church.
