Robert D. Mowrer

Robert D. Mowrer, 77, of Pekin passed away at 1:05 am Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at his home.

Bob was born on August 17, 1932 in Kansas City, MO to Willard and Eartha Marie (Johnson) Mowrer. He married Ann Rock on January 12, 1957 in Kansas City, MO.

Preceding in death were his parents and one brother.

Surviving are: his wife, Ann of Pekin; two sons, Robert Jr. and Troy Mowrer both of Pekin and one grandson, Colin Mowrer of Pekin.

Bob was vice president of the State Street Bank in Quincy from1970 -1981. He joined Bartonville Bank in March of 1981 as executive vice president and was later promoted to bank president. Although currently semi- retired, he remained active within the bank.

He attended Bob Jones University. He graduated from the School of Bank Administration at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He also graduated from the ABA National Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma. He was a member and past president of the Pekin Country Club and Pekin Rotary, and served on the Mayors’ Advisory Council for the handicapped for the City of Pekin. He was a board member of Community Workshop & Training Center during their transition to Tazewell County Resource Center in Pekin.

Bob was a veteran of both the United States Army and the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Bob was an avid golfer and loved watching his grandson play sports. He held a private pilots license and co-owned a plane in Quincy.

Funeral Information

Cremation has been accorded. Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Henderson Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be held later with Rev. John Vaughn officiating
